The snow wolf straight blade we’ve been running the last couple yrs has been flawless, other than the urethane wing edges (fwiw, we have the wings with trip springs)..we were getting excessive chatter.we replaced them with scrap uhmw we had (as well as the main edge)..we’re using it at an hoa of about 50ish driveways, plus the private roads within the . Does anybody have any suggestions on a heavy duty snow plow designed to be run on skid steers? I am starting to look for a replacement blade for next winter. Currently I am running a 7 1/2 foot Curtis blade with pro-wings on a JD 325 skid equipped with Wolf Paw tires and a two speed. My problem is that the blade is just not holding up.

It is quite different with a skid steer loader as you can (and should) push with the loaders arms resting against the stops. Just an observation from somebody with much less plowing experience than most here but with 25 years of experience in the skid steer and tractor loader attachment industry. Check out snow wolf plows or the newer Bobcat ones, if I lost you. The problem with plows on skids is that there is no suspension, when new & plowing with blade angled it can make steering difficult, the occiltion will correct it. Bobcat . I realize snow plow on non 2-speed skid steer would be slow. Also seems to be a wide variety of snow buckets. Makes sense to have the see through window on those. Also, I guess a snow pusher would save a dump cycle vs. a bucket.

Ive only seen a blower in action with skid steers a few times and I thought wake me up when its over. They all were very slow. In all fairness one was snow blowing 4 foot banks back at Baltimore with us last year and the other two were doing sidewalks with about 4 inches of snow. The skid steer's were older and I don't know if they had high flow. here is an old 7'6" Western we turned into a skid plow, bought a mounting plate and welded on what we needed to make the brackets, a few hours and done works fine and backs up the other plows, good to have laying around just in case, prob some wings before next season, i like the chain to float with the contour and a bit of help when the man . The 773 will have no problem pushing a 8' skid steer. A 10' backhoe model is a whole lot heavier and sticks out futher sinces your are mounting it to the bucket not the skid plate. Which is reducing the skid loaders lifting capacity. Trust me, I've worked alongside skilled skid steer operators. Skid steers with 10 ft. snow pushers are nothing compared to an F-350 with a 9.2 in. Boss V-XT blade, not to mention if you throw in wings. While you can get closer and stack better with a skid, as long as the truck can maneuverer, a skid is screwed.
