Posted 8/25/2014 10:13 (#4037442) Subject: john deere 250 II skid steer south west iowa We had to cut the wires and wire the 2 wires together with a heat shrink but splice on the seat switch and seat belt switch and the door switch as it would put the park brake on going over ruff ground. So I am trying to check the parking brake solenoid, but apparently I'm not smart enough to figure out which one it is. Anyone got any indication where the brake solenoid is on a 280. It looks like on the 240-250s it is inside the hydaulic filter housing, but the 280 is different. Probably looking right at it and too stupid to see it. Have a 240 skid loader that has been giving us fits. In the last severeral years we have replaced the over priced insrument cluster 3 or 4 times. 1st 2 times they said the new ones were updated. The third time was this past spring. we were running it one day and it locked up. Parking brake locked, booms locked, couldn't do anything.

I have an early 260 skid steer, bought used with 4000 hrs. The parking brake never did work, well finally got around to getting a manual in CD format. I have tested the solenoid and the switch both test ok. Next is pages of circuits and wiring. All i do is hit the parking brake button and it takes back off again. Tim in WI I am working on a JD 260 Skid Steer for a friend,,,,, What happens is,,,,, Everything is fine with this except when you release park brake switch, the alternator gauge will drop into the red,,,, apply the brake and comes back up,,,,, it locks and released just fine but,, wondering if park brake solenoid is drawing so much juice, that the alternator cannot keep .
